Lifeboat Fish Bar, Fish and Chip Cafe & Takeaway

We popped in, while visiting Scarborough, after my wife read the reviews. Getting there just as the doors opened, we were fortunate enough to get a table in the small restaurant area. Living up to the positive reviews in every way, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. Very fresh fish in a light non-greasy batter with plenty of chips. I had a side of gravy, which was thick and meaty. The price was really reasonable too, which is always a bonus. Thoroughly recommended.

Drove over 2 hours from Leeds just to eat here then immediately drive back and we will absolutely be doing it again. Traditional fish and chips cooked in beef dripping. Chips were perfectly cooked, fish was soft and flavoursome, batter was incredibly crispy and nothing was greasy. All of the staff were lovely and the cafe was very clean.

Everything about our meal here was 10/10. We were greeted by the incredibly friendly staff immediately upon entering the building and felt extremely welcomed. The menu had a wide selection with very reasonable prices, and the portions were unbelievable! Our fried haddock was the most delicious fried fish we ever had. The scampi was also a great choice and would definitely order it again. Overall, this was my favourite meal during my entire trip to England.

We loved this little chippy. So glad we managed to get a seat inside. It’s a shame it’s such a small indoor seating area because the food is so so good. The fish was cooked perfectly. The chips were the best chips I’ve ever had from a chippy. We ordered cheesy chips and it was drowning in cheese, just perfect. The portions are so generous too. The staff are the friendliest. Would 1000% recommend.

Haddock & Chips, mushy peas and a pot of tea, fish was nice and sweet with light crispy batter, chips crispy on the outer nice & fluffy inside. fresh peas. £17.75 all in delicious and and worth it. Sat in the cafe at no additional cost, staff were friendly and attentive.

We ordered the Light Fish & Chips with cod, and even this lighter option was impressively generous. The fish was fresh, tasty, and pleasantly light – not greasy like in many other places. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Makes us wonder how huge the standard portion must be if the light one was already so big! 🙂

Fantastic fish and chips, with Steam cod option for gluten-free member of our party. We was lucky enough to get to sit in the cafe (not many seats, but lovely setup. So get there early or plan food around possible 30min wait for them to turn the tables around), although there is a takeaway outside. Quality was first rate, clean plates all round and the icing on the cake was Simon who created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to go again.
